The best time of day for an interior photo shoot depends on the natural light in your space and the direction your windows face. Generally, late morning through early afternoon tends to provide the most balanced natural light for most interiors. During this time, rooms are bright without the harsh shadows that can occur when the sun is too low or shining directly into the windows.

For homes with large east-facing windows, morning light can be beautiful and soft. Spaces with west-facing windows often photograph best later in the afternoon when the light fills the room evenly. In some cases, we may also plan the shoot to capture multiple lighting conditions throughout the day to highlight the space at its absolute best.

Before your shoot, we’ll review your home or project to determine the ideal timing so each room is photographed in the most flattering light.

Preparing your space ahead of time helps ensure your commercial interior photography looks polished, professional, and ready for marketing. Before the shoot, make sure the space is fully styled, cleaned, and functioning as it would during normal business operations. This includes removing clutter, hiding visible cords, straightening furniture, and ensuring décor elements such as pillows, artwork, plants, and tabletop items are neatly arranged.

Lighting is also important. Replace any burned-out bulbs and try to use matching color temperatures throughout the space so lighting appears consistent in photographs. If the space includes windows, clean the glass to allow natural light to come through clearly.

For retail, hospitality, or office environments, it can also be helpful to remove temporary signage, personal items, or anything that may distract from the design and architecture of the space.

Before the session, we’ll discuss the goals of the shoot and create a shot list to highlight the most important features of your project. A little preparation ensures the final images showcase your space at its absolute best and are ready to use for marketing, websites, portfolios, and publications.

Image licensing is typically granted for long-term use so you can confidently use your photos across your website, social media, marketing materials, and portfolio. Most clients receive a perpetual license for the agreed-upon uses, meaning you can continue using the images indefinitely for your business promotion and marketing.

Licensing terms may vary depending on the project and how the images will be used. For example, extended or commercial advertising campaigns, national publications or billboards, or third-party usage may require additional licensing.

If collaborators such as designers, architects, builders, or publications would like to use the images, licensing can easily be arranged for them as well. Full licensing details are always outlined in your agreement so you know exactly how your images can be used.
