My first Denver senior photo shoot last month with 17-year-old Alyiah was so much fun and yielded so many beautiful images that I cannot wait for my next senior shoot! We shot in four different locations, my home studio, RiNo Art District, Confluence Park and Belmar Lake, with several outfit and jewelry changes. Alyiah did her own hair and makeup, and she also chose her own outfits.
Alyiah, who will be a senior this year at Columbine High School, was an amazing subject for me as she was agreeable and up for anything. She also was great at putting herself together for our many looks. And of course, she’s a beautiful (but humble) girl who was just all-around pleasant to be around and easy to pose and photograph.
Our first location was my home studio where we shot her in three different outfits. I did a high-key background for some, shot her against the white brick background in my studio, and photographed her against a beautiful piece of pink tulle that made for a nice soft feminine background.
The last two photos were taken at Belmar Lake at sunset. Belmar Lake has many beautiful photographic possibilities! Bridges, tall grass, a lake, awesome light. This place was so visually stimulating, it truly is a photographer’s dream location!
RiNo art district, which is where my studio is located, is also full of photographic possibilities, mostly of the artsy, urban kind. For this location, she chose a more modern look and paired it with a jean jacket for some of the images.
Confluence Park in downtown Denver was our fourth location and it too has many possibilities for a senior photo shoot. The Platte River runs through this park and there are bridges, graffiti, huge rocks, cool steps and other visually interesting elements here. We went on a weekday as this park can be a bit crowded on the weekend.
Many thanks to Alyiah’s mom Melissa for her help during the shoot! Melissa helped Alyiah decide on outfits, and she assisted me with holding my reflector.
Good luck to Alyiah in her last year of high school! She wants to go to college for orthodontics after she graduates. In the meantime, she’s enjoying her summer traveling, hanging out with friends, shopping and spending time with her close-knit family.
If you have a senior who needs his or her senior photos done this summer, you can contact me here for more information or to set up a shoot directly. For the month of July I am also offering $100 off of my senior package.
I am also available for Denver family photo shoots. You can check out this fun shoot I did on Maui last year with the Hampson family for an idea of my style of shooting families.
